The polar bear

Since 1997, the polar bear has become the symbol of Refrigue and remains present in the brand's logo to this day, synonymous with strength and protection.

They spend most of their lives in or near water, in rugged and uninhabited regions. Thanks to a thick layer of subcutaneous body fat, polar bears are able to survive very low temperatures. Polar bears are not sociable animals and do not enjoy living in pairs. If you see two bears walking together or playing, it is definitely a mother with her cub. When the cub becomes independent, the mother separates from it and forces it to embark on its own journey.

Climate change is putting the life of the iconic Arctic animal at risk. Every year sees a new record for the warmest temperature and the maximum retreat of glaciers, which affects the life of polar bears, altering their habits and physiological appearance. With the decrease in sea ice, polar bears struggle to find food because, despite being excellent swimmers, they have to face increasingly longer and more frequent journeys in open water. Arctic regions are increasingly affected by mineral extraction, oil, and gas activities, posing a serious threat to the environment of the polar bear and other Arctic species.
The situation of polar bears is just the tip of the iceberg of the climate crisis we are facing. We all have a responsibility to take action to mitigate the effects of climate change and preserve our planet. There are many things we can do, such as reducing our electricity consumption, using less polluting means of transportation, eating less meat and more plant-based foods, recycling, and reducing waste.
